New Kingsnake Owner
Hi all,
I got a terrarium for free recently and decided to get a kingsnake to occupy it. Hope to learn a good deal from you all.
Thanks!

Welcome and best wishes Pan. Kingsnakes are awesome critters to keep. What kind of king did you get?

Re: New Kingsnake Owner
Welcome!!! Kings are awesome snakes. My first snake was a King many years ago. I still have one in the family.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have, we're happy to help.

Not sure. I bought it at PetSmart and all it said was "Assorted Kingsnake." I talked to them about getting the specific type, but they didn't have that information available unfortunately. That's one of the reasons I joined - hopefully I can get some identification help.

So, all I got is that it is "Assorted Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula sp.)". Not sure if that is specific enough since I know there are quite a few varieties.

I'm no expert in localities and morphs, but if you share some pics I may be able to help you out.
If not me, others will I'm sure.

Great, thanks! I think I'm getting close to the required 5 posts before I can post pictures.
By the way, thank you everyone for the warm welcome.

Re: New Kingsnake Owner
Oh wow she's beautiful (and well named) but unfortunately, I don't know what type she is, although she reminds me a little of a variable kingsnake... but with less patterning.
Whatever she is, she's stunning! (And the same color as my corn snake!)

Thanks for the input, Veronica. Sounds like we both have good taste in snakes!

Re: New Kingsnake Owner
Beautiful babe! I would say it is definitely a Thayer’s Kingsnake! Awesome king, super docile and easy to care for. Congrats!

Re: New Kingsnake Owner
Beautiful snake. Much nicer than the kingsnakes that show up in my area PetCos.
