Young Ball Python suddenly fasting

Hi all

In desperate need of some advice and help. i have a young female butter pastel when i bought her (beginning of February) was told she hatched in December, shes on small thawed mice and has shed once since i got her.

Everything's been going great with her until all of a sudden bang shes fasting, when i got her she weighed 126g i weighed her yesterday and still shes sitting at 126g.

Nothing has changed temperature and humidity is still the same which is bang on the mark, i haven't changed feed suppliers or anything. I have tried every trick in the book to try to entice her to feed but shes just not having any of it, Should i be concerned? is there anything you can maybe suggest? below is a list of methods i have tried.

Dry thawing
Wet thawing
wet thawing then using a hairdryer to dry mouse off a little
Braining
leaving the mouse in her vivarium for a 24 hour period with the vivarium darkened
have put the mouse in the vivarium and lightly misted the vivarium
also with the mouse brained.

1. Please don't make multiple threads for the same question.

2. You've had the snake for maybe 5 weeks and tried 7 different methods of feeding? Time to slow down. You're bugging your snake too much.

Ensure you have the right humidity, heat, and snug hides for the snake. Then offer the snake the same type of meal, once every 5 days. Leave the thawed rodent in overnight because it can't hurt the snake.

1. Please understand that i never intentionally posted the same thing 3 times it certainly wasn't intended nor did i even know that it had been posted three times.

2. I am a complete novice in this hobby and so naturally worried, am I to take it that am the first person to be in the same situation and to worry about it? I guess you have never worried? I will admit the i probably over stressed and in the process stressed my snake i know that now and have learnt from it,

3. If you read the 3 posts properly you will noticed i said everything was going great until all of a sudden she started fasting.You will also notice i said that my temps and humidity was spot and still is,

4. I had included the methods and all information i could give to help others maybe through some light on my situation.

5. It was my understanding that these forums are here for not just general chat and brag but also to help novices and newcomers to the hobby with some help and advice and tips and not to ridicule other members new or veterans, obviously i was wrong.

6. There is so much conflicting information out there on the internet its like a minefield. Hence i turned to this forum clearly I was wrong to turn to this forum. the way you have replied has made me feel totally uncap able and that i should have known the answers to my situation, clearly people are not allowed to be novices as far your concerned.

I appreciate hes just doing the best he can but like i said i didnt mean for those posts to be sent multiple times so perhaps before her goes chastising me for it how about maybe check facts?

Also he should perhaps read the posts correctly before blasting someone and making them feel pretty horrible.

And yes, these forums are to share as well as help new poodle in the hobby. We were all new once.

What Aaron was stating is that you need to be consistent in how you offer and wait at least 5 days between offerings.

And him asking about your temps and humidity was because you simply stated they had not changed.....but what are the actual temps? You didn't mention that. Some people say "my temps are perfect" and then go on to actually say their numbers and they're way off.

Just a heads up....braining is old school and I've almost NEVER heard of success using that method.

So, tell us more specifics about ypur setup.

What type/size enclosure?
How are you heating the enclosure?
Are your heat sources regulated by a thermostat???
What are your temps?
What type and size hides are offered?
How often are you handling the snake?

Well thanks, as for braining I tried that because i was advised to from another source.

Enclosure, is a 9L RUB.

Heat source is a heat mat under RUB

Temps are 90F with thermostat

Humidity is 58%

The hides are small snug exo caves

Handling i was keeping to a bare minimum.

You will all be pleased to know that the she is doing very and eating every time she is offered.

1. I did not chastise you for multiple threads. I politely said please don't do it.

2. You should not worry. I'm sure every other source before you came here said the same thing. I didn't say it in my original post because I felt it didn't need to be said. Yes I also know beginners will stress/worry regardless, it happens. I don't begrudge a new keeper for stressing or worrying.

3. I did read it properly. You said everything was going great. So I suggested you double or triple or quadruple check everything. Maybe the thermostat or thermometer is malfunctioning and your temps are lower than they should be. No fault of your own, because things break so I suggest to check this stuff again because these are the easiest fixes.

4/5/6. I gave you advice. It was straight and to the point. I am unsure of what more you were looking for in the advice department? I am also pretty sure I gave you advice most people do not suggest which is the most basic advice. I find most people jump to braining or some other food trick that simply isn't needed. It's always husbandry/shedding/stress/illness long before the snake is on a hunger strike for hunger strike only. Further you included all the methods you've used within in no less than a month of keeping the animal. In which the animal should be fed weekly (4 feedings) and you attempted 7 different methods. That's overdoing it. In addition to this, you said I didn't read through the first message and I admit I misunderstood the fact you said "everything was going well until the animal began fasting". Which indicates to me the animal was eating and you tried 7 different feeding methods in how long? 1? 2? 3 week period? I stand by my original statement, it was just stress. Sometimes they skip a meal.

In the future I hope you sit back, relax, enjoy your snake as it wasn't in any danger.

I see your newer posts (that I meant to quote as well here) says the snake is eating again which is fantastic news. Hopefully there isn't an issue going forward.
