Juvenile Gopher Snake

This past October, I found a juvenile Gopher snake crossing the road.

It was late October, the temp was about 51. This Gopher snake was just still, not moving, on the road. Sort of like the temp must have dropped after it started the attempt to cross. Between birds of prey and people purposely running over snakes in this area, I knew he was not going to see the next day if I left him there.

He's thin, alert and seemingly healthy.

I figure he can winter with me and then maybe go back to the wild in Spring.

I have experience with other snakes, like Kingsnakes and such but never a wild caught.

So first thing:

I've attempted to feed it a pre killed fuzzy on two occasions. To no avail.
I'm worried that he's not eating.
Its been 2 months now.

Should I cool him down so he goes into a hibernation?

It still appears healthy and alert.

Not sure what to do.
This is Eastern, WA where temps get near zero in Winter. There is a huge mouse population so I'd like a population of rodent eating snakes here.
We do NOT have cats.
