Help and ideas needed

My 6 years old male eats every 6 months 2 large rats or several small and medium ones in a short period of time and goes off food for 6 months until his weight reaches 1100 grams, then he eats again until his weight reaches 1500 grams then he goes off food until he reaches 1100 grams... and it has been happening for about 2 years now. I have tried everything to change his behavior but failed. Should I switch him to mice in order for him not to reach the magic 1500 grams number and therefore continues to eat regularly? Would that be a good idea? I have adoubted him when he was 3 years old. His previous owner used to feed him one large mouse or one small rat every two weeks and he was eating regularly. Any ideas please?

Re: Help and ideas needed

Large rats are WAAAAYYYY too big for a male BP.

Most males never need anything bigger than a small rat
