Ball Pythons are NOT poisonous.. As for aggression, as it is with any snake, some are and some arent. I think the majority of people will say that theirs are not aggressive. However, you may have some people say that thiers are. Out of the 10 that i own, i only have one that shows any signs of aggression..

Definitely not poisonous! And generally a very friendly disposition. Of course there is always an exception to the rule but all BP's that I've seen and handled were sweet as pie.
But remember, even the sweetest snake will have it's bad days where it's grumpy. So it's best to leave em be at those times but all in all, BP's are one of my absolute favorite species to own.
Do some research on the net, find some care sheets (I'm sure there's one here on ssnakess) and learn as much as you can about them. You will then know if it's the right snake for you and we will be more than happy to answer any other questions you might have.

They are definitely not poisonous... in fact I don't know of any snakes that are??? Poison is something ingested, venom is something injected - hence snakes would be classified as venomous. Ball Pythons are contrictors, they suffocate their prey, hence they are not venomous.
Ball Pythons are typically not an agressive snake, but they are a defensive snake. Since their first line of defense is to hide in a ball, or be immobile, people often mistake their calm nature for being "friendly", when in fact they are in defense mode. When pushed to the ultimate limits, a ball may bite out of fear, but typically they are reluctant to bite unless it is a feeding error... always wash your hands before you play with snakes
Hope this helped

I think the only way a ball python will kill you is if YOU tried to swallow the snake whole.
Get a book on ball pythons and show it to your mom.

Isen't it funny how some people (mom's in particular) think that every snake is poisonous. Where do they get these ideas? It seems like everyone I have shown my snakes to was afraid but left with a new apreciation for them...
I did some reading on Ophidiophobia...interesting stuff.

Lol. Speaking of moms, mine hates snakes as well unfortunately. Back even when I only had garters she thought they would escape and strangle her to death in her sleep because they just love to kill things. She thought that was the reason they were called "cold blooded" She also thinks that every snake is venomous (but she says poisonous lol). Only people afraid of snakes think all are venomous, or that's my experience at least

Yea....My mom will come over and she love to look through the cages at them, but the first sign of me going for one and she is out the door!
It took me years to keep her from chasing them down with the lawn mower and killing them, when I was a child it would piss me off that she would do it.
They around 6-7 my dad and I brought home my first snake and she went crazy......but with a little yelling from my dad I got to keep it. Now look at me and her she no longer trys to kill them, she even put her car in a ditch trying to miss a common black snake. But she still will not touch one or let me get one out while she is around.

heheh yeah. My bro's Rainbow boa which is only six months old got out of the cage and was lost for about 1 week and a half and my mom was soo scared. She thought it would strangle her in her sleep. ANd always asked if they were venemous. Hehe. Ohh well always helps to worry sometimes. It's funny to see when people are afraid of little pinny snakes.hhehee
