Hi

Freediver, spear fisherman, skydiver, base jumper, paramedic, and soon to be the owner of a boa. I've kept hots and an assortment of pythons and boas in the past, but I overdid it and ended up getting rid of them all.

Looking at getting a new one when I'm ready, but I want to keep it manageable. I can't decide on a RTB or a possibly a hog island boa for something a little less massive. I really don't want a giant 8' tank in my house again.

I don't enjoy spending several thousands dollars a year on cold blooded worms that just sit in a box. I had the fascination of "collect them all" and am more than over that. Lots of snakes was pretty low on the "cost to fun" ratio of things I've done.

I always did enjoy the docile nature and relative ease of my last RTBs. So instead of a giant burm that costs a fortune and a ton of space I might just get a small hog island boa or RTB if I feel up to the space commitment.

It takes less than $200 a month to cost "thousands a year."

My electric bill alone jumped up several hundred dollars a months from the heating and lighting.

But to answer your question....

2 burms
3 RTBs
6 NorPacs
1 carpet python
1 FWC
2 iguanas
1 savannah monitor
1 California king snake.

I ended with these two before they died.

Re: Hi

Not comparing apples to oranges, but my three dogs cost me more than my snakes...especially my 14yr old Lab that has Lymphoma (>$6k for treatments).

It's all part of pet ownership.

And thats why I don't own 3 dogs. I would never spend that on an animal. Especially ones that don't do anything.
