Question Should I Get an African Egg-Eating Snake?

I have been wanting a pet snake for at least half a year already. I was planning to get a ball python or corn snake; I wanted some kind of starter snake. One of my family members didn't want one because their diet revolved around rodents.

I did research on egg-eating snakes, but the information is either vague, nonexistent, or contradicting. I live in an area where obtaining quail eggs is not difficult, so that's not a problem.

Are egg-eating snakes aggressive? When are they more active? How much should they be fed? How difficult are they to feed? Does the gender make a difference?

Thanks.
