carpet python afraid to come out

I have almost 6 month carpet.

And she is very shy. She eat at completely dark only.
She never come out of her hide box If there is a bit light. If I close her enclosure with a towel and she come to lie on branches she will never eat if under her on a ground lay a food. She just starring on food and would watch it forever.
again If I close her enclosure with a towel she will come out and after I turn on a table lamp she continue laying on branches.
Is there any trick to make her not afraid ?

she will get better with time. at 6 months, she is afraid that everything (including you) will eat her- meaning that they are very skittish (shy) as juveniles. Once they get some size on them, they relax a bit and not as scared.

i think you'll find that most of their activity is nocturnal too, so that will limit much of their movement in a lighted environment.

So when I can see her to enjoy ?

One person here have said he has 5 carpets and 3 of them sleep outside of hide box. What is depends on ? Personality only ?

I agree with MDT, this isn't a thing you can rush, take your time.

In terms of your question, she will get better over time. Fearless snakes were eaten off and killed long ago, as adults they tend to be more confident.

These things live 20 years or more. 6 months is still super young. I am no expert but if it were my snake I don't think I would be worried yet. I know I wouldn't be comparing a 6 month old snakes behavior to a much more grown one.

My carpet eat frozen unhatched quails great. As far as I bought her I changed her diet from live mice to unhatched quails and chicken.

My carpet was hiding a lot when very young. Almost always hidden day and night. Now at night she will roam around and still hide all day. She is 2 now and is a bit more bold. Let her come out on her own terms. I use a soft yellow light pole lamp in the area as a dim light source that will allow me to watch them without disturbing. It seems for my snakes it's bright enough I can see them but not enough for it to bother them as they still roam or chill or whatever they were doing. Too bright and they go hide.

but any light prevent my carpet leaving her hide.
my table lamp shine to a table and snakes tank is pretty far.

I turn it on when I enter the room. She is already out or not. But in my experience it doesn't make them flee. When they are young they usually hide. Mine did, and when I held her she tried hard to get away now she is calmer and chilled out. It takes time, if she isn't trying to kill you be happy and wait it out. If she isn't trying to kill you now then you got a good one just wait out her shyness. Don't pick her up every time she comes out or she won't. Let her roam when she wants and use a soft frosted light in the room to light enough of the cage to see a bit. That's what I've done and it's worked.

She afraid me but if I put her on my neck she can lay there a couple of hours. I got a bite from her only once when I was force feeding her with rat. Now she eats quails so no need to bite me. )))

I do. I can remember she was coming out but now she don't. Her enclosure has 1 glass side and I have cover part that close to her hide. So she had no light there. That's where she come out when light's on. She even look out from this glass cover and come back to darkness.

I'll be honest, it's not until they hit the 1 to 1 1/2 year old mark that they really start coming out of their hides. In another one of your threads you showed that youtuber without hides in his enclosure. The difference between his snakes and yours is that his snakes were largely adults. Adult snakes are much more confident and willing to come out of their hides regardless of species.

Personal story, I have 2 baird's rat snakes. Up until about 5 months ago they were in literally two exact enclosures with the same temps, same light, hides, everything. My female has been bold since she was about your snakes age. My male was a big chicken, rarely coming out of his hide ever. Well, now they are approaching 3 years of age my male is out crawling around every morning. My female doesn't even come out that much and she is a real showoff.

I would like to point out that I hold my snakes maybe once a month, if that. They don't bite and aren't afraid of me when I'm outside their cage (though they do watch me).

You'll find that with time your snake will come into it's own and be much more confident. Don't get too worked up about it, enjoy your snake while it's young and cute and it's food is still cheap!

today's morning was very strange. I can't see her enclosure full as I cover part of 1 side from glass and I just opened cover and saw she was out right above her hide.
Slept ?
I made a bit noise and she com back to hide.
Can a snake out of hide at night, asleep and forget come back to hide with sunrise ?
