A bit late, but...

Hey All;

I had already made a few posts before seeing this thread, but might as well introduce myself now! A friend of mine has been into snakes for the longest time and I love the hell out of her animals. My dad also used to have a beautiful boa when I was younger and I have always loved snakes and reptiles, so I have wanted to begin my hobby of keeping snakes for a long time. Recently, I drank the kool-aid and bought sweet little Banana Ball Python. A month later, I add a Jungle Sunglow boa. These animals are so amazingly interesting and I find myself obsessively researching them all day long, watching other keeper's videos, etc.

Once I feel more confident in my snake keeping, I hope to get a Jungle Carpet or Brazillian Rainbow Boa next. Anyways, this "hobby" is incredible and I'm stoked to be a part of this community!

Ha - I can relate to your desire for more animals. I started a couple of years ago with a Boa imperator and now have an eclectic collection of 18 snakes (I think!) with possibly one more next month.

There's just so many interesting species...

Once you get a taste for the hobby it can be hard to resist. It all started with a common garter snake when I was a kid.... Now we're hovering somewhere around 50 snakes and starting to breed them. You know you're in trouble when you need a spreadsheet to keep track of everyone.

Oh yes, it definitely gets you in. At one stage we had 27 pythons and 19 lizards of various kinds. We've now downsized to 11 pythons, and 6 monitors and dragons. Still thinking about a green tree snake, and maybe a lace monitor and a spotted tree monitor.
