$5 aspen bedding

This seems a little good to be true.
https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/-pr.../0000000228850
  • "All natural aspen fibers"
  • Marketed as horse bedding (not a plus, but a detail)
  • "7.0 cu. ft. before compression"
  • $5
I may purchase just to test it. I know if that fails, my mom will take it.

Thoughts?

Re: $5 aspen bedding

Its probably fine to be honest. Probably put it in a mesh seeve to get extra dust out. I know it says they reduced dust but a horse can deal with more dust than a snake can I'd imagine.

Is the cost worth the added effort of sifting, did you find an alternative use for the stuff you didn't use?

Re: $5 aspen bedding

Mom took the other stuff and used it in her compost and worm food, whatever that may be. If it doesn't work out that is what this would be.

You (jjhill001) mentioned a mesh sleeve of sorts. What process are you thinking?

The savings, to me, wasn't worth the effort. The dust that was left over I used as traction on icy driveway.

I have nylon screen I got from home depot that I use for false bottoms on my terrariums. I would probably use a piece of that to sift it.
