An unexpected loss

Well I came home today to find my recently acquired bamboo rat snake dead he had regurgitated his meal. He was doing very well which is what's concerning me. Feeding well, defecating normally and recently shed perfectly. It's almost as if he deteriorated over night. He was in quarantine so I'm not too worried about the rest of my snakes. His temps were good, everything seemed spot on. I'm at a loss

Did it pass away?

What are the temps? Humidity? I know the bamboos don't seem to like the higher temps of some colubrids.

Re: An unexpected loss

His temps were 75-80 and humidity 70-80%. He was kept the same way in whIch the breeder keeps them. Yes he did pass away.

Thanks, I'm just so disappointed it happened so fast, I didn't even get a chance to bring the little guy to the vet

Re: An unexpected loss

Temp of 75-80 seems on the high end for that species? I had a similar thing happen to my little tangerine milk snake. Was doing fine for a month or so, then regurged and died a couple days later. Lost a couple of my baby Dominicans for no apparent reason, apparently not all snakes are created equally healthy. Sucks when it happens, but it just does sometimes.

I would consider getting an autopsy done. Might be able to find out what the heck happened and prevent it in the future.
