Exclamation Ball Python

I am a new ball python owner, my friend just bought me one. I have had her for about two weeks and she has developed brown, dry, flaky scales on her belly/near her neck. I'm afraid it could be scale rot. Any insight on what I should do?

It's very challenging to diagnose a condition from pictures and without more info on your specific setup and husbandry numbers/ practices. Certainly a exotic vet will be able to sort through the possibilities after you give the adequate history of present illness along with all the husbandry info.

Preheat the oven to 375° f......

SERIOUSLY! I hate to be rude and crude....( well....maybe I live for it!)
But IF!!!!! There's not anything SERIOUSLY wrong, a vet bill oughta be pretty cheap.

Now, I have a cat: ( 2 trips for urinary blockage)......this is REALLY SERIOUS for a cat.....( they go in ICU for a week.) Fortunately, I had a verry affordable vet, so it was only $150 trip.

Soooo...Then Sammy gets really skinny....
$369 to run tests to tell me he has an incurable disease.

Shut up and be happy you have a snake.....AND TAKE IT TO A VET!!!!!

Talk to your parents and ask them to assist you in the search.

Re: Ball Python

While you are getting your parents help finding a veterinarian to aid your snake keep its cage exceptionally clean. Scale rot thrives in moist bacteria ridden environments.

Now I'm also going to bring up another possibility. If you are using an under tank heater and it is not being controlled by a thermostat your ball python could also be suffering from a severe burn. Its important to go to a vet and figure out what is wrong.
