Missing kingsnake :(

Hello all first time on the forums and well i had purchased a kingsnake a month ago and she was doing great till she got out and 2 weeks later of making sure she wasnt in anything in my room i haven't found her the downside is that i have two outlets in the same corner in one side of my room cracked and im assuming shes in the walls witch im worried about because could she get outside? Or could she get to the attic or basement ? I dont want to assume she died shes only a foot long and im worried she is stuck or something because i left a mouse to see if it would come out but nothing...any help would be appreciated

Re: Missing kingsnake :(

Welcome to sSNAKESs!!

Sorry about your missing pet, it has happened to a few of us. You could continue leaving out food, but try it where the warmest place in the house is; turning down the a/c a little more, and putting your cage on its side w/a uth pad, or light might coax it back. Some folks mentioned flour at the doors, if possible, to track movement. Search the forums for "missing" and you'll probably glean some more tips for bringing it back home.

But with the warmer weather, if there is outside access, it might not bode well if it made it outside.

Re: Missing kingsnake :(

Here's my suggestion for finding a missing snake:
I don't think baiting it with food will work. The biggest threat facing the snake is the risk of dehydration, especially with a small specimen. It will probably look for moisture. I recommend taking several moist towels, and place them in various rooms, along the walls. Snakes tend to travel along the walls; when it encounters a towel, it is likely to hide under it in an attempt to protect itself from dehydrating. Check the towels regularly, and if it is still alive and inside the house, you should find it eventually.

Re: Missing kingsnake :(

My male thayeri king got out of his tank 5-6 months ago, finally found him a few weeks ago. He ate a couple times, then last night I noticed 4 empty tubs along the top row of one of my shoebox racks were hanging halfway out. The bugger is on the loose again, even though the screen top was secured with a strap in the middle this time. When he's captured again he's going into a tub, no more screen topped tanks for him, ever. One thing you might try, put a live mouse in a secure screen topped 10 gallon tank (or similar arrangement) and set it in the middle of the floor. That worked rather quickly when my smaller carpet python got loose.
