Affordable Tstats?
Well, it's finally going to happen....I am getting a rack!
I will be getting an 8 drawer economy rack from Animal Plastics soonish. 2 more paychecks or less and I should be able to put my order in. That being said, I will need a good Tstat that can handle the 8 drawers.
Also, anyone with experience with these kinds of racks would be cool to comment your views on them.
While I'm at it, can anyone direct me to some guides on how to hook up heat tape to a Tstat.
So ready for this next leap into my hobby! =)

Re: Affordable Tstats?
Congrats on the upgrades Mink. I don't keep rack systems but with so many snakes depending on one t-stat I think I'd have to go with a Herpstat. They're pricey but worth it for your collection. Who's going in the rack and what size are the tubs? Do the AP racks take as long to ship as their singular enclosures? Looking forward to pictures.

Re: Affordable Tstats?
The racks will hold several things. My young BPs, the gopher, and leopard geckos. I have a smaller rack that my hoggies, cave dweller, garters, and depi will go in.
Tub Size..33x16x6 (41qt)

Re: Affordable Tstats?
I have 2 racks, one with a single continuous strip of heat tape that runs down the sides across the bottom of all 4 tiers. The other is a white pvc that the seller had built himself. It has 3 separate strips of heat tape running down the back. I use Helix DBS 1000 t-stats on both racks. Each Helix has 3 outlets, like a regular extension cord, and a single temp probe. Any commercially built rack should come ready to plug the heat tape right into the t-stat.

Re: Affordable Tstats?
I like herpstats also. They have proven extremely reliable for me and offer a good variety of features for the money.

Re: Affordable Tstats?
I use Herpstat 4's for my enclosure stacks, so that each one has a separate probe to regulate the rhp's and the heat mat on top. (I set 2 tubs on a wide ultratherm mat on top of the stacks.) So far the Herpstat 6 is the largest single unit, it has 6 individually regulated outlets and probe jack ports. If you want to do all 8 tubs separately I'd recommend a pair of Herpstat 4's. They have a night time temp drop option too.

Re: Affordable Tstats?
My thermocontrol pro 2 could handle a 9 drawer rack pretty well, but they all had about the same requirements so it worked as it only has one feeler and 2 slots. (I wired the heating together to one plug, which seemed most efficient) so that herpstat might be a better choice for multiple species? I don't know.. anyway make sure to share pictures once you get it set up! sounds like a nice set up
