Help identify this snake

I found this little guy in my driveway today. He's bigger and colored differently than the garter snakes I usually see around here. Anyone know what kind it is? It was about 3' long.

Re: Help identify this snake

Would help to have a clearer picture and to know where the picture was taken, but it kind of looks like a prairie kingsnake to me.

Re: Help identify this snake

It looks like perhaps a gray rat snake or a white oak rat snake to me but it's hard to tell from the photo.

I *can* tell from the pic that it's nothing dangerous.

Where do you live? That will help with identification. So would a sharper pic if you can get one.

Re: Help identify this snake

Like the others said, a clearer picture and general location would help. However, I am leaning towards Prairie King based on just the picture.

Also, I believe "White Oak" Rat Snake and Gray Rat Snakes are one in the same - just different common names for the same species.
