Torn between two

So i have been debating on getting a red tail boa as the wife didnt like the retic and its size...Iva always have females so they tend to get bigger than males. She really likes the color of the albino Burms and i believe (could be wrong) that male burms tend to get 10-14 feet in captivity with 14ft being rare.

She says I can get a male burm if I go that route. I have a 30 gal long tank and will get an AP style 6 footer in about 6 months..

thoughts lol

for the record I have had large snakes in the past and have owned snakes for 10 plus years and I'm not a new beginner...just new to the site lol

Re: Torn between two

I don't keep either species but those albino burms are something special. Best wishes with whatever you choose.

Re: Torn between two

A male burm may stay below 14' but they are still very girthy snakes and immensely strong. Personally I don't think a 6' is big enough and I'd want an 8x3x3 as a minimum. A bad day with a burm would be bad!

By red tailed boa do you mean the common Boa imperator or the true red tailed- the Boa constrictor? The former are great snakes, easy going and a female will still get to 8' maybe a bit more for a big one. A true Bc could get to 14' and they're truly stunning but again generally remain quite laid back.

Personally I'd go the boa route but then I'm a little biased toward them.
