Saying hello
Hi All,
Yesterday a childhood dream came true and I got my first snake, a pair of beautiful Hog Island boas, 6 years old, from a previous owner who became too ill to care for them.
So far so good; they appear to be very placid and good-natured, curious about everything around them and my children are as fascinated by them as I am.
I'm looking forward to them having a long and happy life with us. Hopefully this forum will help make that happen.
Cheers!

Re: Saying hello
Take good care of them...we're one of the reasons they're gone from the wild, and we need to be the ones to ensure their continued existence in captivity!

Welcome and best wishes Griff. Snakes are awesome animals to keep. I hope you and your family enjoy them for many years.

Re: Saying hello
Thank you. The kids love them and are mesmerised by them. My 6 year old said he loves them more than his brother and sister . That might change the first time he has to clean up a poo!

Re: Saying hello
The only one I know well enough to recommend is Wharf Aquatics just of the M1 at J28. There's one in Birmingham called Birmingham Reptiles and Aquatics but I have never been. They did however have Dominican Mountain Boas for sale once that I've not seen anywhere else.
If you ever happen to be in Sheffield then look no further than Snakes n Adders. One of the best ships in the UK.
If you can get to Doncaster on 25 June the main IHS breeder show is on and worth a visit.
Online Swell are very good and if you want to look at going bioactive or just get some really nice plants then look no further than bioactiveherps.co.uk
