getting my very first snake TODAY! :) :) :)
Hi everyone, I'm Teresa. As I'm typing this I'm waiting for FedEx to show up at my door with my baby Brazilian rainbow boa produced by mister Snakesitter himself, Cliff Earle of Living Gem Reptiles. 
I've been lurking forums for a while but honestly hadn't thought I would ever really post until it really started to sink in that people in general do not like snakes. No one wants to talk about my awesome amazing beautiful exciting new baby!!!
Here's a picture of my baby boy, borrowed from one of Cliff's posts:
I've named him Incêndio.
FedEx should be here within an hour!!

Welcome And lovely BRB you have there. I'd love one some day when I have the room.
Hardly anyone outside this forum knows I have a snake (the gecko is safer cause people like lizards better than snakes). I usually get the ewww or it's going to eat your cat. My snake btw right now is about the size of a pencil and when fully grown will be two feet. I tell people this... no, still will eat your cat.

Welcome Teresa... Thats a great snake to start with... I have wanted one... I actually drove for 5 hours round trip to pick one up and the guy didn't show...  Bet you can't have just one... Haha...

lol that's EXACTLY what my boyfriend said to me when I sent him a pic of my little guy. "He's going to eat your cats." I was in an online group meeting earlier this week and as we were waiting for everyone to join in, the leader asked if anyone had any news and I said, " Any kind of news?" and she said yes so I said, "I'M GETTING A BABY SNAKE TOMORROW!! " and I was met with: ... ... ...
What kind of gecko do you have?? I have a gargoyle, and yeah everyone thinks she's cute lol. My best friend wanted to get one too until she saw how much effort it takes to keep them thriving.

NO WAY! Um, I'm pretty sure I would literally cry if that happened to me.

Thank you so much everyone, what a nice welcome!! Will post a pic or two when I get a chance. My little guy was AWESOME from the second I lifted the packing paper and he perked his little head up all full of curiosity. He's just amazing, I didn't even expect him to be such a cool dude.

Yeah I'm not sure why people think that every snake out there is big enough to eat a cat. Sure people generally like the big snakes but I've always had the small ones. And if my 10 gram snake (he's heavier now just haven't gotten a recent weight) can eat my 23lb cat I would be impressed.
I have your run of the mill leopard gecko I've had them before for several years and missed having one so Dec of last year I "impulse" bought my girl.
