I've almost stepped on a rattlesnake but the rattle actually prevented it. Think my heart stopped, then spiked after slowly turning around and briskly walking away.
Encountered a Naja Atra, or Chinese/Taiwanese cobra in Taiwan on a scooter. Small, narrow road with jungle on either side, could NOT slow down/stop in time but the cobra crossed right in front of me and raised up, sadly I ran over it, but in replaying it in my mind, don't think there was an alternative.
It was HUGE, and did slither off. Maybe it lived.
ID question now, back in Arkansas, found a (THINK) Rat Snake MAJORLY caught up in some of that ground mesh. I had pulled it up cuz there's a punching bag nearby and I just didn't think to cut it away.
Anyway, spent about 40 minutes clipping all the mesh away. Tricky cuz parts had dug into it's body. Used an Optivisor, some hemostats, sharp pointy nail clippers. And a little stick/cloth when it tried to bite me.
Everything I've read says rat snakes are black, but, being colorblind, my mom said this one was blue. Whiteish underbelly.
Pics/a video below...

Re: Howdee, and What is this Snake? Tangled up BAD
It's a racer, Coluber constrictor. I'm not sure which subspecies you have in AR. Yellowbelly maybe?

Yeah, you will have to get approved for the first two, if I remember right, and then pictures after five posts.
You should be good to go now that they know you aren't a "spammer"

I can't seem to post pictures, pity because I have about 6 good ones showing the progression and the first one, he looks hopeless.
I know I'm new, but not sure if posting urls requires a certain amount of posts or just moderator approval.
