Help with snake ID.

Hi, this is my first post here. We moved into a log cabin last summer and around fall I found this snake curled up in a log as I was splitting it. Im not going to embarrass myself on the ID I labeled it with. I found another one yesterday but Im not sure it was the same species. So tell me what you guys think or know which snake this is that I found last year. Two pictures but its the same snake.

Try uploading the pictures to a photo hosting site and posting a link. Be sure to include location as well.
