Waterproofing my enclosures

Hello all, I am currently in the process of finishing two enclosures I have been working on for the past 5 months. And my question is: what can I use to seal the interior of my enclosures?
I have already painted the interior black with "Valspar Signature Flat Latex Interior Paint and Primer in One" and sealed the seams with silicone.
I plan to house a Rainbow Boa in this new enclosure I am building so I do need this enclosure to be able to withstand the humidity this snake requires.
So, as I said, the enclosure is painted and all seams are sealed. Would my next step be using some sort of water based Polyurethane? Or is the latex paint and silicone enough to protect the wood from the humidity and snake droppings?
Any tips and answers welcomed .
- Luis

Re: Waterproofing my enclosures

I recall seeing someone who has built wood enclosures before to look at deck sealant. The same protection for an outdoor wood patio sounds like it would properly protect the cage to an excess. I think it may have been McCarthy Boas if you search for him.

Re: Waterproofing my enclosures

Food grade butchers block oil works really well. 2-3 coats and the enclosure will withstand humidity very well.

Re: Waterproofing my enclosures

Yatch varnish for me. Going to have a go at making my first Viv soon and that's what I'll be using...
