Xenopeltis and swimming?

Hello all, first post here. Not sure where to post about xenopeltidae, figured this would be my best bet. If you think of a better place, please let me know.
Ive had a xenopeltis for just about a year now housed in a 20 tall with 8" of peat moss/ cypress mulch and an assortment of orchids and other tropical plants. I think it's about time for a bigger and better enclosure. I have a 44 gallon tank that Ive been thinking about turning into a paludarium with about the front 1/4 of the tank water and the rest a separated peat moss or coco fiber area for burrowing. Ive read elsewhere that even though they are terrestrial snakes they also inhabit rice paddies, which is why im thinking a paludarium might be a great way to potentially observe my snake other than for a quick minute during feeding time.
So what do you think? Would she enjoy having a water area to hunt frogs and fish or would that space be better for burrowing?
Thanks, Karl.
