Water snake breeder?

Does anyone know where I could get a captive bred Florida/Brown/Northern Water Snake? I'd like to avoid wild caught if possible. Unfortunately through google I've been unable to locate a place that isn't wild caught. They've been on my wishlist for a while, and I have a bit of thing for semi-aquatic snakes. I've looked into getting something like a tentacled snake as well, but those seem to be even more illusive to find than a water snake. Thanks for any help

Re: Water snake breeder?

Join the club. There's lots of wanted posts out right now and I don't see much for sale. Banded water snakes are probably most common for captive bred US natives. The best place I know to go would be the nerodia facebook group which also will discuss tentacled snakes and a few other more aquatic snakes but much less commonly so it might take awhile to get the attention of anyone who actually has them. I asked about browns and no one seemed to work with them but several do seem to have plans to expand so more captive breds and possibly morphs can become available. Even if there are only wild caught you might find one kept in captivity for awhile from a young age so it's been around people and known to be healthy. I highly suggest against fresh wild caught right now anyway. There is a potential fungus outbreak. I do not know the latest details on it since I have not been ready to get a water snake but few have been stocking wild caught even in the warmer parts of the country and with shipping temps opening up. My dogs still found a patch of snow to play in here :/

Re: Water snake breeder?

Steven Bol is in the captive bred water snake specialist. He is in the Netherlands but can help you out with the importing fees bc he has several reputable breeders here in the US that he does business with. He is a garter snake guru as well. Go to his website Steven Bol garter snakes and shoot him a email. His email address is on his page. 100% reputable and has superior animals.
