Nicaraguan Boa
I've recently been obsessed with the dwarf boas!! Found a Nicaraguan Boa that I'll be picking up Thursday. Now I've done a lot of research on them and am 100% ready to add another one to the small(for now) collection, but I figured i'd ask on the forum anyways.. What should I be expecting to see from this little one and if there are any tips that anyone has when caring for this species? What experiences have you had with them?, good or bad. How big (weight/length) will they get?
This will be my 3rd snake, first 2 are kingsnakes so this will be my first boa. I'll be picking up a female that was born July 2016. Pics ASAP

Re: Nicaraguan Boa
i acquired a Nicaraguan motley a few months ago. he is the one of the friendliest boa's i own. he is only about a year and about 2 feet in length. slow growers. apparently its best to be careful and not overfeed them because obesity can be a problem, especially for the dwarfs. ive found him very easy to keep s far. no special/specific requirements. normal boa husbandry. congrats on the new addition, looking forward to seeing some photos. im sure you're gonna enjoy him very much

Re: Nicaraguan Boa
Hi jpham33
As Patrick says pretty much the same conditions as a normal boa,I find I just need to increase the humidity a bit more around shedding to get full sheds.
My little hypo female is two this year and just over 3ft, really nice and tame all ways thinks your going to feed her as soon as I open the viv she's there wanting food I think you could you easily over feed her as Patrick says
Good luck when you get her

Re: Nicaraguan Boa
Beatiful snake there richard.
I was thinking about feeding her biweekly but i'm hearing you can go 3-4 weeks. What would be best if I wanted to keep her on the small side but healthy?

Re: Nicaraguan Boa
Thanks richard, I fell in love once she was in my hands. Having a hard time not picking her up everytime I walk by the cage. She ate her first meal no problem

Re: Nicaraguan Boa
Beautiful animal, all my Nicaraguans strongly like to nip at me. One of them even completely flips out hah

This is a bad way of thinking, you feed proper not to keep a snake 'on the small side'

Re: Nicaraguan Boa
As Tsubaki has said in my other thread, since I don't know my gal's parentage I can't 100% call her a Nic, but she is as sweet as can be. Super friendly and mellow.
