Question Diamond Python hasn't left his hide since eating

Hey Everyone
I'm a new time snake owner and I just bought a 2 yr old diamond python (2 feet long) 5 days ago.
Ok so yesterday was the first time I've fed him and he was great, taking the frozen rat without hesitation (I gave him 2) but it's now been 48 hrs and he hasn't left his hide
I can easily see him in there and I've seen his head pop out once so I know he's ok he just doesn't want to come out
It's summer here and his tank is at 28.9 degrees celcius so I haven't been using a heat source
Is there anything I should be worried about?
He was pretty active the first time I put him in his new home about 3 days ago and would come out of his hide at night but lately nothing
Thanks in advance

Your lucky he ate so soon... Most snakes won't eat until they have adjusted to it's new home... As far as the hiding goes is anybody's guess... Snakes like to hide and eat, and since he has a full tummy, there's not much else left to do but hide... Snakes are solitary animals and would just as soon be left alone... Just when you think you see some kind of routine with your snake it will do something completely unexpected...

Welcome and best wishes DK. Congrats on the new critter too. Like Sattva said they will often retreat to their hides for a few days after a meal. Once he's had a chance to digest his food he should become more active again. Hopefully you'll share pics of your Diamond once he settles in a little more.

This is normal. My reticulated python only uses her hot hide for digesting her meal and when she is in shed.

My jungle carpet likes to hide for a couple of days after feeding.
By the way, isn't 2 foot a big short for a 2 year old diamond? Are you sure about the age?

Re: Diamond Python hasn't left his hide since eating

I don't know their temperature ideals or extreme but snakes often like to go sit somewhere warm for a day or 2 after eating. It could be that habit even if he is warm enough. Some are prone to regurgitation if you don't give them somewhere quiet and warm to digest for awhile.

I actually haven't had a snake so far that wouldn't eat within the first week of coming home. Usually within a couple days if it happened to be the day I was planning to feed anyway.

All of my snakes hide for a couple of days after eating and when they shed.
