Can retics eat chickens?

I was wonder if a retic could live off of just eating chickens. I Plan on feeding my retic large guniea pigs than move her over to rabbits once she is too size.

But can a retic live of off just feeding on chickens.

Re: Can retics eat chickens?

I know guinea pigs are very fatty so it may not be the best choice for a staple, but I dont have experience with retics. I also am unsure if fowl should be a staple. Any reason why you arent using rats until it's ready for rabbits?

Re: Can retics eat chickens?

I wouldn't use it as a staple, they're a much leaner prey option than rats or even rabbits. If you wanted to give the snake a varied diet, you could definitely include chickens, but chickens alone might not be enough to sufficiently support them.

I would avoid Guinea pigs if you could. Pythons do deal with fat a little better than boas, but I still would avoid such fatty meals. The fattest I'd go to would be colossal rats maybe. If you do offer GPs I'd do maybe one a year, and offer something else the rest of the year.
