New to forum
I've actually been on sSNAKEs.com forum for about a week. But this is my first intro post. I've already posted quite a bit in the General Discussion, because I had some immediate questions/concerns regarding my animals.
So anyways, a little about me: I was a cat rescuer for almost 20 years. I have always had a healthy respect for snakes (they scared the crap out of me). Didn't matter if they were venomous or not; they terrified me, but were fascinating at the same time.
Met my now husband, who used to handle large snakes (Columbian RTB and Burmese in his previous experience), and he used to talk about how chill his Burm always was. We would have "date nights" and go to some pet shops that specialized in reptiles, because he wanted to expose me.
During this time, my son was in 6th grade, and his science teacher had 3 snakes in his classroom; Columbian RTB and 2 corn snakes. I would always have extreme anxiety going into his classroom. Then my husband volunteered us to babysit the Columbian RTB over the summer between my son's 6th/7th grade.
And that was it for me. I was sold. That was May 2016. We now have 2 retics, 1 Burm, 1 Woma, 4 BCI, 2 BCAs. 1 of our BCIs is 8 years old; that would be Fang, the one we "babysat"

Re: New to forum
Hello and welcome and I'm glad that I'm not the only one whose snakes like to sit on their heads

He volunteered us to babysit, without asking me first. That was his strategy. At first I was PO'd. Then we brought Fang home. And he put Fang on me while I was hyperventilating. And then Fang used me as a jungle gym and kissed my cheeks and "whispered sweet nothings in my ear". Now Fang is my snake. I'm a general animal lover, and I've always tried to keep an open mind about everything, and I think my husband took advantage of that fact.

He was slick. We were volunteering at the school, and we passed by the teacher that owned the snake in the hallway. He knew the teacher always had summer sitters for the snakes, and asked if there was one for Fang. No one wanted to sit Fang because he's big, so when the teacher said no, he said "oh we'll do it for you". Put me on the spot, so I couldn't say no. And it was a teacher, so I couldn't go back on our commitment (you don't flake on a teacher). Sly guy.

But if anyone asks, I only have 1. The rest just showed up for the house party.
