Questions about quarentine

Hey everyone, I will be Acquiring an amazon tree boa soon and have some questions involving quarantine. I currently have a BCI and Ball python. When I got my BCI I kept her in a separate room from my ball for quarantine.

My question is... Do I have to keep the new snake in another room, or can I put it on the other side of the same room. I might sound dumb, but I would like to not have to heat two rooms fully. I always can if I need to though

Thanks and late happy new year!

Re: Questions about quarentine

This may sound like a dumb question to, but why would you want to heat a room when you can just heat snakes enclosure

A separate room is the proper procedure. I also want to know the same thing that Dave asked.

I live in a 2 bedroom ground floor flat and the second bedroom is really a box room measuring around 11ft x 7ft and the temperature in there at the moment is 18.8 C and a humidity of 51% but my tubs and viv's are at their proper temps and humidity.

Re: Questions about quarentine

I heat up the room my snakes are in to provide a pretty reasonable ambient temperature for their cool down side. Otherwise, if the house gets too cold, so will the snakes on their ambient side. Most of my snakes aren't the brightest, and they will spend most of their time on the ambient side; I've picked up one of my retics who was like an ice cube once, so I opted to increase the room temperature to avoid this. It will drop below 50 degrees inside the house at night if not heated.

Not sure if this answers anyone's question. Just giving my own experience.

Re: Questions about quarentine

The answers seem to vary depending on person, but if you do add the new snake to the quarantine room with the boa, just be sure to reset the quarantine clock on the boa unless it leaves quarantine before the new snake arrives.

If anything odd pops up, then I would further separate the quarantines.

Re: Questions about quarentine

The boa is in the same room as the ball now, but I think I'm just gonna heat the other room. It's pretty small, so it shouldn't be too hard with a small space heater.

Thanks for the help everyone!
