1st Chick For Vietnamese Blue Beauty

I decided to try offering my VBB a chick today instead of all rats. First she ate a weaned like normal. After she got that down I tried the chick. She hit that thing with gusto! It was a large meal for her, pretty much max size. I was happy to see she ate something different.

Thanks. I've read that they eat birds so I figured why not try it out.

My understanding is that due to the hollow bones that birds have, there is less calcium intake. Can one confirm this? Would the same be for quail, a grounded bird?

Re: 1st Chick For Vietnamese Blue Beauty

It's a long, but interesting read. It's covers a lot and goes pretty in depth. What I gathered is tons of snakes eat birds in the wild and do just fine. For some snakes it's a higher % of birds over mammals. So it seems logical that feeding chicks, quail, chickens etc to captive snakes is perfectly fine and healthy.
