Hello from the Catskills of New York State

Hello,

As I have never posted in the forums before i was asked to make my first post today by saying hello to the community in the Introductions forum. Is this the right place?

So I've been keeping snakes for much of the last 40 years. Water snakes, garters, ball pythons, blood pythons, a short tail sumatran python (SSTP), ... maybe some others which I can't recall at the moment.

My work for much of the last 25 years has included many contracts abroad. So every time I needed to leave the mainland US I needed to sell whatever snakes I had had at the time. Kinda sucks.

Anyway, expecting a new SSTP soon and would like to read, and maybe reply, to posts re their keeping, feeding, breeding, etc. I could've been a lurker but decided to join outright.

I expect to post pics soon. I guess that's about it for now. Thanks for having me!

Welcome to ssnakess!
That's a new breed for me. I just looked them up, looks cool. Looking forward to pics when you get your new baby.
I sure hope you won't be going abroad anytime soon...

JellyBean maybe you know Sumatran Short Tail Pythons as Black Blood Pythons. Python curtus is the true name.

Python brongersmai and P. breitensteini have also been called Blood Pythons, Short Tail Pythons, etc.

Welcome aboard! I have never personally kept that species but I know a few friends who have, definitely a snake on my list for the future
