Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
Soooo, I am looking at doing a full overhaul of my reptile room. Plan on going with AP for cost reasons.
Now, I do LIKE the black enclosures. But I was thinking white would look nicer and offer a bit more light without having to add the light bar inside the enclosure. My concern is how clean white would stay.
So, anyone have experience with white AP cages to give me a bit of info on?

Re: Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
Black will offer better photo ops imo. White reflects light, black absorbs it. If you are not into pictures it really does not matter.

If I don't use flash it should be ok. Also, I am half tempted to get some of that aquarium background plastic and stick that on the backs. Not sure yet.

Re: Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
I'd go with black, simply because white stuff never stays clean. The inside especially but I have a kid who would constantly touch...so the outside would be dirty too lol. But I suppose thats up to the individual.

Re: Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
I went with the black enclosures. I just figured most snakes prefer darker spaces and the white enclosures would have been a bit stark for my room.

Re: Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
Which model did you get Ziggy?
Also, I am actually thinking of painting the walls black and doing a grey flooe. So I think the white would look nice with that contrast. No one but me touches my things really so not tok worried about general smudges or finger dirt. Moreso about the inside getting stained or going yellow over time. But everyone seems to go with black which almost makes me winder why they offer white at all lol.

Hmmm I like these. hmmm the T3 can be divided. UGH NO. Cannot think about more animals right now. I'd go with black for whatever reason.

Re: Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
I have no knowledge of AP kit. Not seen it in the uk but I'd go for black over white if I had the choice. Just looks so much nicer imo and I can see white being a pain to keep clean.

Re: Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
Those are all AP T8s Mink. I have to order some new ones for my carpets soon. I'm torn between the T12 and A20.

Re: Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
I had Boaphile cages that were white and over time they stained. Between the heat from the UTH and urine they got stains that looked almost like burn marks.

Re: Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
Love those cages Ziggy!
Personally I would go black over white any day of the week. I never cared for white in most things as they never stay "fresh and clean" for long. Also, last thing I want is being blinded every time I go into my snake room (there is a far amount of light in my rooms). On top of that, most of my snakes look better against a darker background than a lighter on--helps pop out their color.
But it all just a personal choice.

Re: Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
Chuck, I understand that Boaphile uses a different kind of plastic than AP and even the black will stain.
Tank you all for responding. I still have alot of thinking to do.

Re: Animal Plastics: Black vs. White
No experience with the white plastic but I am keeping my IJ carpets in T10s and I don't anticipate having to go any larger. T12s may be better for the larger carpets.
If you get white and want to change the interior or exterior color, krylon fusion spray paint is designed for plastic and is aquarium (fish) safe.
