Vietnamese Blue Beauty & Other Beauty and Cave Snake Tub Enclosure?

Hello! I'm interested in a variety of beauty snakes, especially the VBB. I was wondering, would a 34 5/8" L x 18 3/4" W x 12 5/8" H work for an adult of any beauty or cave snake species? As of now I have a ton of these enclosures laying around at my house and am looking to find a species of snake to put into them. I don't have any photos now, but I do have perches set up in them as well for some arboreal climbing space as well. Thanks!

Is this a trick question? Are you really considering to keep an active snake which will grow up to 240 cm (8 ft) to more than 300 cm (> 10 ft), depending on subspecies, in such a small cage??

Sorry, I don’t want to rip of your head, but this tub of yours is way too small for any adult beauty snake.

Orthriophis taeniurus is an active snake which likes to climb, so in my opinion (and experience of keeping a male Orthriophis taeniurus frisei (the
Taiwanese beauty snake) for nearly 20 years) the minimum size for an adult should be something like 180 x 90 x 120 cm (6 x 3 x 4 ft), for the Vietnamese subspecies which might reach 300 cm or more in total length it should be even larger, 250 x 90 x 150 cm (8 x 3 x 5 ft).

I wouldn’t even keep a young beauty snake in this tub, it is simply not high enough to provide the necessary climbing space.

Sorry, I just misheard some info then, I want to make sure i have a proper enclosure. Did not mean to anger you or anyone. Thanks for the info then, I'll make sure to get a proper sized enclosure if I do get this wonderful species of snake. I don't know what I was thinking, sorry again! ._.

Hey, no need to apologize, you did ask before you did anything, so no harm done.

As I said, you need something larger, but if you provide them with a large enclosure you will have a lot of fun with them...

Definitely listen to Romans advise. He's very knowledgeable about these large colubrids. He's been a great source of info and inspiration for me. I've got a yearling VBB who's growing fast! When she was a hatching I started her out in a 40g breeder aquarium with a large multibranched piece of driftwood for her to climb. She spends a lot of time climbing and moving about the aquarium. It's definitely time for me to upgrade her to her main enclosure.

I happen to be interested in the VBBs as well. A bit more long term provided things go well with me currently and continue to.
Where would you get the 3ft wide cage. AP Cages offers similar.(A35: 72L x 24D x 48H)
If you have a suggestion, I would be happy to have something to bookmark.
Also, temp range. From the care guides I see, they are at something like 75-85 degrees in range. Considerably lower than what I have seen among other snakes.
Humidity: Have not found much of anything except to provide a humid hide.

I think your best bet is to build a nice large enclosure. I don't think there are any commercially built enclosures that have the width and height needed for a large adult VBB.

I keep mine with a temp range from 84 at the hot spot to 72 at the cool side. I keep a large water bowl and humid hide as well which she uses regularly. I also mist the whole enclosures few times a week.

I'd think that size enclosure would be more suitable for smaller species of rat snakes like climacophora. Essentially a 40 gallon breeder tank, I currently have my Everglades in that size. She's a bit more than 3' but doesn't seem cramped yet, will be moved into a 75 gallon tank in a couple more months.

Here's a pic I found of a VBB that the owner says is 2 years old so it still has some growing to do. The guy holding it said he's 6' tall so that snake is over 8' for sure.

Hi just take a rescue and then you will help unwanted snakes that have been beard by people that do it just to make money just becoz they can and then peopele like me will pick up the pieces

Oh yeah, they get some length to them. Mine is only 10 months old and it's just over 4' long. She's grown 2'+ since I got her on April 1st.

I actually found a breeder for this subspecies, this snake is known to grow 5 feet I read. I was thinking I would no need a 6 foot cage.
