I dont know if it's just the time of year but my hognose (female) who's usually a ravenous feeder has been really finicky about her food. She has only eaten 2 times in the past month (which isn't too worrying) but she's also been trying to escape/ digging around everywhere till her little nose turns pinkish and a little swollen
.
I found out that my temperature probe in the tank was malfunctioning (reading low) but it has since been fixed. After getting the temps down she hasn't been so active anymore and her nose returned to normal.
However, after she shed and ate a few days ago, she has returned to her frantic digging today and erratic behavior- she is usually a really nice snakie but now when I touch her, her first reaction is usually to hiss, jerk or both.
PS I didnt lower her hot spot temps over winter but the ambient temps has fallen somewhat. Do snakes go in heat?
