Man...love that worm snake. I'd love to find one. Where are you located? My gut is telling me blotched water snake but location would help.

Came back to the same den in the fall and caught a hatchling and this one. Maybe the same snake.

Awesome finds! I'm also jealous of the Western Worm Snake as well as the Eastern Coachwhips, Coachwhips are always one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing.

It is a Plain Belly Water Snake (Nerodia erythrogaster). Formerly a Blotched Water Snake (Nerodia erythrogaster transversa), but no subspcies of N. erythrogaster are currently recognized. Reference.
