To much humidity

Had a cage built for my retic. Finally got her set up yesterday and put my mulch in for bedding. There as so much humidity water was running down the glass doors. I removed most of the mulch and cleaned the windows and now we sit in the mid 60's and I'm good. My question is how many holes do you think I should drill to let some of that escape when I spray or add bedding?

That's hard to say AZ because it would depend on a lot of variables. Glad you got it corrected though. You will have to continue to tweak the enclosure to find what really is ideal for the retic. Good luck.

Re: To much humidity

It is very normal for the humidity to be very high when you're filling an enclosure with fresh mulch, due to the amount of stored moisture in the mulch. If you leave the enclosure doors off/open for a day or two (obviously without the snake in it), then the mulch will begin to dry, and the humidity is going to stabilize.

Re: To much humidity

What nightflight said. My enclosures drip water for a couple days with fresh mulch.

How long do you wait until you worry about scale rot

Re: To much humidity

For scale rot to happen you need to have the grossest, most sopping wet enclosure in the history of ever. It's harder to get than people think. Can the scales be irritated? Absolutely but true rot is pretty rare
