Zoo Trip (Pic Heavy)

Went to my local-ish zoo yesterday to see the Christmas lights they do. They had the reptile center open, so I got to take a look at some of the reptiles. I forgot my camera so please forgive my crappy cell phone pics There are also some pics in here from my trip last year of the ones that weren't out or they no longer have.

Spot the snake?

There it is! Mexican lance-headed rattlesnake

And thats all for reptiles. But, if anyone's interested I also have pictures from the butterfly house, and the aviary house too and I can post those in a separate section if people want to see them. Thanks for looking!

What beautiful critters. Their camouflage is amazing. I'd love to have those enclosures too . Great pics and thanks for sharing Adrian.

Re: Zoo Trip (Pic Heavy)

Ziggy, the Detroit zoo has great enclosures, and they use real plants, I love it they give each animal so much space.

Nightflight, the skinks were cool, but I particularly enjoyed the spitting cobra. He was right at the front of the enclosure and when I was up close to him taking pictures he was observing my hand and camera and seemed very curious.

Re: Zoo Trip (Pic Heavy)

Why is it that zoos use cacti but everyone says for us not to use them?

Re: Zoo Trip (Pic Heavy)

Gerat pics. I really liked the large natural enclosures. I think my favorite was the green tree monitor. I would love to set up a nice tree monitor enclosure at home.

Re: Zoo Trip (Pic Heavy)

I'm very impressed with that zoo! The variety of herps and he quality of their enclosures is phenomenal. All the zoos I've been to have had real tiny reptile sections, where they keep the animals in nice-looking but undersized enclosures. I'd love to see a place like this. That spitting cobra is really cool!
