New From South Dakota

Hello!

I've gotten back to having reptiles after years without them. Previously I'd had a garter snake, a turtle, a green iguana and a bearded dragon and the house felt empty without some scaly critters in it. Alas my husband was terrified of snakes. Finally I wore him down, promising he never had to deal with, hold or even look at them. They would stay in my office in the basement.

So now we have 3 corn snakes and a western hognose coming in April when South Dakota thaws out enough for shipping. The corns include an adult female common corn (Bridget), a hatchling male red extreme Okeetee (Dante), and a juvenile male Sunrise Striped Motley Amel (Dragon). The hognose is a young adult red phase male who will be called Diego. And I've got my husband handling the corns and cooing at them. I can't take much credit for that. The corns pretty much sold themselves, they're so mellow and personable. We also have a young northern leopard frog that happened to fall into a basement window well.

Other denizens of the house include 3 retired racing greyhounds and 2 cats. It's never dull.
