BP Growth/Weight Question
My male BP, Moko, is about a year and a half old, and a solid 900 grams. I feed him on a weekly schedule and change up his meals between 2-3 adult mice, a small rat, or a medium rat. For the last several months he's been a solid feeder, not missing any meals. I don't want to over feed or have him growing too big too fast, but do wanta steady, healthy growth and happy snake. Should I change his feeding to bi-weekly now, or is my current schedule ok?
Pic taken just tobight to show his thickness.

Re: BP Growth/Weight Question
I think that is totally subjective and depends on your plans for him. The current schedule seems appropriate and the reptile looks healthy. Remember you have him on a regular feeding schedule now and to change may mean or lead to refusals. Also the fact that he is approaching the 1000 gram plateau is another consideration. That 1000 gram wall comes with ball pythons going on food strikes and especially males who will have the urge to breed. I would stick with my routine. Beautiful reptile btw.

Re: BP Growth/Weight Question
You can do bi-weekly if you wish. I only feed my males about that all year round and they only get small rats. Most of mine are similar sized to yours.

Re: BP Growth/Weight Question
Thanks guys. He is just a pet, so not worried about breeding weights or any of that. Just want him healthy. =)
I think I'll keep the feeding rotation of mice/small/medium rats but switch to bi-weekly. I don't need a monster sized BP lol.
And thanks Albert, I think he's mighty handsom myself =)

Snakes continue to grow no matter what. I know some males who are on small rats for life and fed weekly-bi-weekly who are 1500 grams or so.

Re: BP Growth/Weight Question
Mink your BP looks healthy.
On the growth and size, it really depends on the BP I find.
I have 1 male 1 year old that was your guys size, and we have a male pied at a 1 old hes 1500 grams. both kept the same way fed on the same schedule.
You're doing great and you have beautiful healthy pets

Re: BP Growth/Weight Question
Your snake looks beautiful! Just wanted to say that.
I just got a pair of female lessers that are almost a year and a half old and only weigh 179g and 223g respectively. They don't seem thin or unhealthy, just small. I was told they were eating weaned rats weekly and weren't on any hunger strikes.
Meanwhile my 3 month old Coral Glow BP has been packing it in and weighs 166g already (eating rat fuzzies weekly)...
It seems there is quite a size range for BPs depending on their growth rate.

Yes.. considering my Banana Fire male, was born in July, Hes just over 300 grams right now, but they're not being over fed, and eat on schedule. and they eat appropriate sizes

Re: BP Growth/Weight Question
My little BEL hatched 8/1 and is weighing in at a whopping 142 g. It'll be interesting to see where he's at in a year.
