Quick question for breeders

How long after ball pythons hatch do you introduce them to food/pinkies? Ive been watching a lot of videos on breeding but cant find the answer to that question.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Quick question for breeders

It usually takes them 7 - 10 days to shed.

I then introduce food about a week after that. They can still live off their yolk from the egg for a time so I like to ensure they take on their first go.

Some people will offer food the next day with good results as well. The choice is yours here.

Re: Quick question for breeders

I offer about 7 days after shedding then every 7 days after that until they do eat.
After they start eating I offer every 4 to 5 days.

I have had some go a month or two before taking their first meal.

Re: Quick question for breeders

Definitely have to wait until after the first shed and then it's a waiting game of about 7 to 10 days. That doesn't mean they all will eat at that time frame. It may take longer for some individuals. And they are usually started on live hopper mice or live rat pinkies but not mice pinkies.
