New scorp!

I acquired a new scorpion recently, and i thought i'd share a picture!
It is a Androctonus australis and is one of the most deadly scorpions on earth, if not the deadliest.
They are good posers too, and are really good looking scorps IMO.

Pretty fast! One moment he's in the corner minding his own business, the other moment he's flying up the glass touching your hand with his pincers.
I really would not recommend this species to begin with, it's for keepers with alot of experience (it's in the top 3 most venomous scorpions and it causes the most deaths out of any other scorpion) it's toxicity is matching that of the mamba's and he's got quite alot of the "good" stuff.
If i were to get stung, i have an epipen and diphenhydramine in my drawer just in case and have the number of our national antivenin distribution centre on my phone to call them immediately and let them fly the antivenom in.
We talk about hot snakes here, this is a very hot scorp, also very "aggressive".

If you want a good starter scorpion, you should try to acquire a Pandinus imperator (Emperor scorpion), Hadogenes paucidens (Flatrock scorpion) or the Heterometrus spinnifer (Asian forest scorpion.) their venom is comparable to that of a bee and is only dangerous when you have an allergic reaction to it.
They are also one of the more calmer species and tend to pinch rather then to sting if they are annoyed.
Emperors are really formidable looking and really beautiful scorpions imo, you can handle them without a problem but don't do it too often.
Good luck with your choice

Re: New scorp!

Awesome!! I currently have one of these and a colony of Asian forest scorpions. I'm looking for a death stalker. The most venomous.

I have a pair of Leiurus (quinquestriatus) hebreaus "Deathstalkers" 1.1.0 that i've got from a fellow scorpion keeper and breeder in Belgium. Hebreaus are harder to find here, normal Deathstalkers aren't that hard to come by.

I'm also working in a reptile shelter/shop where we have a gravid female L. Quinquestriatus.. If she has a good bunch i might consider selling them
