Exclamation Question

Hey guys another problem with my boa i had two small/medium rats and he ate both of them. Im almost positive it was too much for him to eat at once. I fed him last thursday so its been a few days and hes still laying in the same spot since i fed him. And when i open his tub and touch him or anything all he does is move his head around a little. Im just a little nervous to be honest. Does this seem okay to you guys?

Re: Question

If he ate them okay and has not regurgitated either of them, then he should be fine. I would just leave him alone for a couple of more days to digest his meal.

Re: Question

Maybe he is going into a shed cycle. Are his eyes dull or blued over?

Re: Question

If the bulge is big enough there's scale separation and it's really huge, it was too big of a meal. If he hasn't regurged and it's been a few days, most likely he'll be fine, I would just keep an eye on him.

Just because he's hanging out in one spot doesn't mean he's shedding, an over-sized meal can easily have a snake sitting still for several days as they digest it enough to move comfortably. Expect several poos spaced out as bits of the meal are digested, and space out his next planned feeding by 1-2 weeks at least from his normal schedule.

Although he should be ok this time, I would not take feeding overly-large meals too lightly. Even if one medium rat was half his girth, he's better of getting just one of them with regular spacing (so if you feed biweekly, even if he got a small rat when he's supposed to eat mediums wait that normal 2 weeks before offering again, it's not going to hurt them to have one small meal) than having two rats and being overfed.
