Max Fury

Hi guys,

Just wanted to introduce my little guy/gal.. Max Fury! S/he is an Aussie Stimson Python (Antaresia Stimsoni). They are about 8 months old now and will get probed when they're a bit older to determine sex (the two breeders are better against each other on sex - Max's tail looks female but s/he haslarger spurs like a male).

Max will be short for Maximus/Maxime (as all my pets are named for Harry Potter) and Fury for Furiosa in the new Mad Max movie (which I believe would have made a grand name by itself!).

The name Max Fury is deliciously ironic as so far this little one is pretty chill, I have not had one strike/bite. Max is my first snake so I'm interested to see what a bite will feel like but I'm not complaining!

Max has eaten two fuzzy mice since she came home to me on 23.08.15, but seems to be a little shy on that, only eating if I drop the mouse in the enclosure, turn the light off and leave the room. I figure she's still adjusting and that's nothing to worry about.

Max is in a small 'click clack' tub enclosure and will be moved to a larger one when s\he grows before a permanent adult enclosure. S\he weighed 29gms when I brought her home and just weighed in tonight at 36 gms! I was a very proud mama to see that, haha.

Good news wise, my mum who hates snakes held Max and was quite smitten, so that was a win.

Re: Max Fury

Thanks all Looking forward to our first shed, and strangely, our first bite if it ever happens.

Re: Max Fury

Beautiful! I have a young A. maculosa and I just love these little pythons. "Spot" (very original name haha) is in a 20 high style enclosure with lots of hiding spots and some climbing spots as well. He seems to be doing quite well. The first time I handled him he definitely struck at me several times. Just scared, was all. I now gently
get under him with a snake hook to pick him up and with calm handling he is settling down nicely. Bite wise, didn't even feel it. Too tiny I think, just kind of glanced off my thumb.
He also eats under the cover of darkness only; I leave the pinky in there and it's gone by morning.
Yours is a real beauty, congrats!
