UTH: Plexiglass & Overheating?

What we have:
- Corn snake
- Aspen bedding
- 20 gallon glass reptile tank
- 2 Oak slates
- 10-20 Gallon ZooMed UTH
- Hydrofarm Thermostat
- 1 Lexan Polycarbonate Sheet

The kids spent 4 weeks researching what they needed and was told to place the tank on the oak slates to raise it since it's resting on a wooden bookcase. Don't peel and stick the UTH to the tank, instead sandwich it between the tank and the polycarbonate sheet (which is laying on top of the oak slates). This way, if we got another tank, we can move the UTH. However, everything I've read says sandwiching it is a bad idea due to overheating. Also, if we do the sandwich way, I wouldn't need to peel the paper backing to expose the adhesive. Is that OK? Would the paper eventually burn if I leave it on?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should be fine to move things to the glass enclosure. even being in a enclosed space as long as the probe for the tstat is placed properly the temps will regulate fine.

As long as you have a thermostat that is working properly, you should not have to worry about overheating
