Upgrading analogs and best way to control a heat lamp?

So I bought these pet store analog temp readers and bought a temp and humidity one. I've since realized these are bad and I want to upgrade to a better one. Any suggestions? I want to get 2 digital temp readers and a humidity reader.
I have a red bulb heat lamp but am thinking of switching to ceramic for my heat lamp as they don't emit light. Any suggestions for brands?
And one last thing I want to get a better way to control my heat lamp. Should I get a thermostat or a rheostat? I used to use a UTH but it never seemed to create the thermal gradient needed so it is on a thermostat as a backup.
