Smile Nigrita finally took a nibble!!!

Stubborn little Raul has been trying to constrict his prey since 1/10/03 and not getting his timing down well at all. He squeezes the air, himself, and occasionally the mouse but was eventually giving up in frustration.

I kept offering prey weekly and tried live vs. f/t's without success until today. Little dude finally decided to just eat it! Hooraaaaaaayyyyy!!

I was starting to get a bit worried, he lost .7 gram and as he's just a 3-4 month old I was considering force-feeding soon. It's nice when a snake cooperates before you have to force the issue. I just left him in his feeding tank overnight in a dark closet with a f/t fuzzy and this morning when I went to check on him I saw him strike the mouse and swallow it down without hugging it first.

Congrat...it's wierd that he would wait until you checked on him after being with it all night. Maybe he thought you were comming to steal it away reom him...

I used to have a Mex. Black that used to get so excited during feedings that he'd strike at everything but the mouse!!! Even bit himself mid body a couple times!!!
Glad to hear he's finally eating!

Yeah, Big Mike, I thought it was weird too. But for all I know he was striking and squeezing all night long and I just got lucky enough to see him finally figure out what to do.
