Subtle beauty at it's best. Dekay snakes were my first snakes when I was a kid. I had one WC female that produced 25 babies for me which was a huge surprise. I usually kept them for a few weeks or a month and then released them to go find some more. Very nicely done enclosures!

It's very interesting to see these species kept by someone. Here, where they're common in the wild, almost no one keeps them. Both of these were some of the first snakes I ever kept. Like, Jim, I'd just catch them and keep them for short periods before releasing them. A black racer was the first larger snake I ever kept, I think. I caught him near a stream by our house, and I kept him outside in a tent. It wasn't long before he managed to squeeze out where the zippers met. But, that racer probably helped start my love for keeping snakes.

Re: Storeria dekayi victa and Storeria dekayi limnetes

Thank you for your messages
My female Storeria dekayi limnetes had 25 babies, and my female Storeria dekayi victa had 5 babies.
It is almost a first in France!

Soon I'll post pictures of my terrariums.
But US terrariums are very different from those in Europe.

I personally prefer those European

PS : babies

I used to keep/breed DeKay's snakes when I was a kid. First snake I ever kept and the one that made me love snakes. They're awesome little critters.

Yes, these are very amazing snake.

It's a shame they do not interest anyone in Europe.

I like the scales on these, great picture of the young male! Congratulations on the babies! Your terrariums look superb! I really like the wood pieces you chose, I bet these snakes are quite content.

Black Racers are awesome, I think it is was the first snake I ever caught, and the meanest. Strangely enough I had mine for about 2 weeks before I let it go too.
