Blue Racer
So, yesterday a buddy of mine called me and was asking about Michigan snakes and explained how he found a 6' shed behind his barn. Judging from the first picture he sent and his location I said it was likely a black rat snake, since we don't see much else that large around here. Today he called me and said he saw a stick get hit on the road behind his barn and it rolled around. He got out and it turns out it was a massive blue racer. I hadn't thought that's what it would be since they're nearly impossible to find here. Here's the pic of the beauty. She had to have been around 5 ft and I have no doubt that's what the shed came from. Needless to say, I wanna catch it. Haha.

Same here! I could not believe it. She apparently put on a nice rattle display too. He got me a video if it taking off and they're fast.

I agree, this one in particular is a really nice looking one. I'm in disbelief, and I'm so glad it didn't actually get hit. I have to wonder how old this beauty is. Time to go herping out there, lol.

Re: Blue Racer
Good luck catching it those fellers are fast . When I was young we rode dirt bikes in farm country , sometimes we would encounter a racer using the road to get to the next corn patch instead of going thru the woods . Its amazing how fast the are . That one is bigger then what we saw . Never saw one alive up close and alive they were always jetting done the road like there tails were on fire and they thought they could out run it . Cool snakes .

Re: Blue Racer
Lol, he asked me if I wanted him to catch it so I could keep it. I would love to but she belongs out there, and I'm sure she's got quite the temper haha. I wish I could post the video of her taking off, as soon as she got off the road and into the grass she was gone. Unbelievably fast. I'd been looking for a CB one for a while but never found one.

Re: Blue Racer
Wow, that's a beauty! I've only ever seen photos. We have the black version down here. But, man are they fast. I've caught a few through the years, but most of them manage to get away if there's any kind of cover nearby. My daughter and I chased one back and forth in some briar patches last weekend before he finally managed to give us the slip.
