building an arid viv advice

Hi everyone! This is my epic first post!

I'm looking to build an arid vivarium for my north Mexican pine snake. I don't think it should quite be desert, but arid/dry.

I'd like to get a recipe/suggestions for arid bioactive substrate that would be able to grow some succulents, creeping fig, non spiny cacti and some mondo grass near the water dish.

I really need plants that will survive the possibility of him monster trucking them. Any suggestions? Is what I've listed looking feasible?

If anyone has experience with arid vivs, please chime in!

I have a jungle viv going right now for my green tree python, but never did a arid viv before
