what are your setups like for your BRBs?

Do you use a tub or cage or tank? Undertank heat or overhead?
Do they utilize climbing branches?
Anyone with naturalistic, bioactive substrate?
Just curious how other people keep their rainbows.
What size cage for an adult male?

Im thinking Dante might make for a good planted tank(enclosure of some sort).

Here's my setup, I used to have lots of plants etc in there but as she grew she just flattens everything now so she's back to basics. 👍

Full enclosure. I dislike tubs/racks, except for babies/quarantine situations.

They climb when babies. Adults will climb as well, but are mostly terrestrial.

There are a few, but I am not sure if they are active on this forum.

An adult rainbow will require one square foot of space per foot of snake...so, for a male, five feet. More is always better.

So a planted cage would be a waste of time?

Snakesitter not a big fan of tubs either. When I had my big cages even the ball pythons were fairly active at night . They certainly didnt just sit in one spot like they do in the tubs that they currently inhabit.

generally theres no point in doing planted vivs for terrestrial snakes. They usually crush most plants while out and about. Planted vivs tend to do better for sleder boddied arboreal snakes. even etbs and gtps will make a mess of the plants because of their weight.

I'm not sure about the average growth, but mine has grown slowly. He put on 40 grams after 7 months, but he's actually not far behind another person who I talked to who feeds their BRB's much much more than I do. I feed him slightly conservatively, so he's growing just a little slower but very steadily.

As far as my set up, he's in a temporary tub. 51 qt I believe, with plenty of height for him to climb on, and enough floor space to last him until he's 3.5' long, which he might not even be 2.5' long yet at 9 months old. I'm not too worried, though, as my BCI was only at 2.5' long at a year after I got him, so he was probably over a year old by then. He has sphagnum moss as bedding, a vine to climb on, and lots of hides, as well as a water dish to soak in. It's heated with flexwatt heat tape and no lights except the sunlight and lamps in the room. I plan on upgrading him to a 4'x2' PVC enclosure heated with an RHP and with EcoEarth bedding once he hits 3.5'-4', which may be when he's 2 years old.

Re: what are your setups like for your BRBs?

I may go ahead and put him the 40 gallon for awhile. Im just worried that I can make it humid enough. The tub is holding steady now at 97 percent humidity.
I just moved so all the snakes were put in tubs and I havent gotten around to fixing them up or anything so everyones tub is pretty barren.
humid hide, water bowl, dry hide and thats about it, paper towel substrate. They are eating fine though but the BRB is still getting live mice at the moment. I will start work on getting him over to frozen thawed next feeding.

Get him to frozen, then to rats. You'll want him on those by the time he grows up, as it's either one adult rat or four to six adult mice. Good luck!
