help with mites

about a month ago i took in a new snake from someone i knew who was moving, and last week i was holding the snake and i looked down and noticed on my hand a mite crawling around. i have owned reptiles for years now and never had delt with mites. i guess my luck finally ran out. i later noticed that my albino boa had also been infested by mites. i didnt notice any mites on my other reptiles but i decided to treat my whole collection to be safe. at first i didnt want to go the chemical rout i started with just soaking them and taking everything out of the cage bedding hides etc and replacing it with paper towels new hides and new water bowl. i continued replacing the paper towels everyday but that didnt seem to do the trick. i then tried rubbing them down with oil and that only got a few of the mites off but not all of them i could still see a few stuck in there between the scales. finally i gave in and deiced to go with a nix solution. i mixed the small bottle of nix with a gallon of water and then poured it into a squirt bottle. i replaced all the bedding to each animals sprayed everything down including the reptile, in and around the cage. i made sure there wasnt any spots that i missed. the next day i decided to check up on them and when i looked i could still see a few mites left on my boa. so im not sure if i didnt give it enough time for the nix solution to do its job or it just wasnt effective enough to kill off all of the mites. If anyone has any suggestions or comments i would really appreciate the help
